Although many people believe that all healthcare in Ontario is publicly funded, the reality is the Government provides very little funding for medical equipment and technology. More importantly, Government equipment grants vary from year to year in size and purpose.
The role of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation is to raise funds for the hospital's equipment and expansion needs.
Since 1996 the Foundation has funded almost every piece of capital equipment and all the furnishings purchased. It has also funded the Hospital's share of all facility expansions and renovations.
A separate corporation with its own staff, the Foundation has over 70 volunteers who, like countless thousands of people in the community think of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital as their own.
The Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation is a registered charity (#11886 8272 RR0001) and abides by the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code developed by Imagine Canada.
