Even in difficult economic times, you can still make an impactful gift to your Hospital through a planned gift.
Planned gifts do not affect your current income. Instead, these are gifts of assets that are realized after your passing.
The easiest and most common example of a planned gift is a bequest in your will. You can choose to leave a specific piece of property, a predetermined sum of money or a percentage of your estate to the Collingwood G&M Hospital (CGMH) Foundation. Click here for sample Bequest wording.
Other ways to plan a future donation include Gifts of Registered Retirement Savings Plans/Registered Retirement Income Funds, Publicly Traded Securities, Life Insurance, Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts. Each of these types of donations offer tax advantages to your estate such as the elimination of capital gains tax or a reduction in probate fees. Talk to your financial advisor to see which option best suits your needs or click on Ask an Advisor for more information.
The CGMH Foundation recognizes that making a planned gift is extremely personal. A qualified staff member would be pleased to meet with you in confidence to answer your questions about your options, the Dr. A.R. Stephen Society recognition program and designating your gift to a particular area of need.

Canada Revenue Agency provides tax credits for gifts to eligible charitable organizations. You can claim up to 75% of your net income in charitable donations each year, and carry forward any unused tax credit for up to five years. Use the tax credit calculator to estimate your tax credit for a gift of cash.
The tax credit calculator for individuals on this site assumes that the donor is resident in Ontario and uses this province's tax credit rates.
