I am proud to work at the Collingwood G&M Hospital. Your care team works hard every day to ensure quality healthcare in our community and across our province. You probably hear a lot about the innovative work being done in big city hospitals, but we want you to know we’re doing it here too.
I have been a family doctor in Collingwood since 1999, am the Co-Chief of Family Practice at the Collingwood G&M Hospital and am a Board Member & Quality Improvement Lead at the Georgian Bay Family Health Team.
The work I am currently most excited to be involved with is Choosing Wisely Canada – a national campaign to help clinicians and patients engage in conversations about unnecessary tests and treatments and make smart and effective care choices.
Through my participation in Choosing Wisely, I developed a course called “Practicing Wisely”, which is an accredited course for practicing physicians and nurse practitioners whose goal is to help clinicians have patient centered discussions around reducing unnecessary testing and treatment. I teach this course in Ontario and in other provinces in Canada and have been focused on promoting the principles of this to our Collingwood Family & Emergency Physicians.
