At this time, with COVID-19 visitor restrictions still in place, we are not able to have visitors in our office. Should you need to drop off a donation in person, please call the office at (705) 444-8645 and we will do your best to accommodate in accordance with Hospital policies. Donations may also be made online at any time. Thank you!
Being a monthly donor is the most effective way to provide steady, ongoing funds to support the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital (CGMH). It’s a good way to spread your donation over the year. Plus, you can change, pause or cancel your monthly donation at any time by calling our Foundation Office.

Please make cheques payable to 'CGMHF'.
The Foundation relies upon the Hospital’s management, staff and physicians to determine exactly what the Hospital needs. Each year the Hospital undertakes a capital budgeting process, which identifies its equipment and facility needs. Each identified need is then ranked in order of priority. This list is provided to the Foundation and together, we negotiate how many of the priority items can be funded annually. The Foundation’s primary role in this process is to operate fundraising programs that will meet the funding targets in any given year and to work with the Hospital to ensure our donor’s money is spent on its intended use.
The Foundation is a separately incorporated charitable organization that operates independently of the Hospital. Although the Foundation employs 5 full time and 1 part time staff, most of our programs are volunteer driven. The ultimate responsibility for the Foundation lies with its volunteer Board Members. The staff of the Foundation is responsible to the Foundation Board of Directors. All costs for staff, fundraising programs and public relations come from the Foundation’s budget, not from the Hospital.
The Foundation operates under regulations established by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) – and is required to report annually to CRA on dollars raised, expenses and funds provided to the Hospital. Investment policies are regulated by the Public Trustees Act. The Foundation is audited annually and our audited financial statements are made available to the public. The Foundation belongs to the Canadian Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy and has adopted these associations’ Donor Bill of Rights as our code of conduct.
Yes, donors can designate their donation to a certain department or piece of equipment. The Foundation, however, will not accept donations that are designated to items outside of the Hospital’s current area of needs. For example, if a donor wished to make a donation to purchase an M.R.I., the Foundation could not accept the donation until such time as the Hospital had approved the operational funding and purchase of an M.R.I. In such a case, we would work with the donor to choose a different area of need. The Foundation or Hospital cannot reallocate designated funds without the prior consent of the donor.
Non-Monetary Donation Guidelines - Last Updated September 23rd, 2021
Our community has been so generous since the pandemic began with offers of food or other comfort items for our CGMH care teams. However, due to pandemic restrictions, we were, and still are, unable to accept them. This extends to donations of toys or other items intended for patients.
We are so very grateful for every offer of support of this kind that we are given, but as the top priority is always patient safety, we must be very specific about following guidelines.
Should you still feel inspired to donate a non-monetary gift, we highly encourage you to reach out to us first to have the donation pre-approved to avoid disappointment or to discuss other ways that your gift could be utilized.
The best way to support CGMH and the work of our medical professionals is to make a donation to help provide the tools they need to support patient care in South Georgian Bay.
We invite you to reach out to us at any time regarding donation guidelines, the current needs of the Collingwood Hospital or how to make a designated gift.
