Meet CGMHF Board Member Jim Anderson
Jim Anderson is a retired corporate executive who has held senior positions at a number of public companies including Union Gas, Westcoast Energy and Denison Mines. He retired in 2013 from Denison Mines where he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is trained as a Chartered Professional Accountant.
I volunteer for the CGMH Foundation because I feel health care is one of the most important requirements for our lives. Our country is very fortunate to have publicly supported health care available to all citizens however provincial funding does not cover all costs particularly equipment costs. Local fundraising allows us to fill that gap to with equipment and facilities that will allow our physicians to provide us with the best care possible and to attract the best physicians to our area.
What is the biggest impact you’ve seen during your board tenure?
My board tenure has been relatively short but I have seen the CGMH Emergency Department upgraded and enlarged to handle the requirements that result from our active life style on the ski hills and from the large influx of visitors to our area on a weekly basis. I have also seen the refurbishment of our patient care rooms to a state-of-the-art level that will enhance patient care and greatly reduce hospital infections. I am very much looking forward to the day we have a new hospital built in our community.
