CLEARVIEW, ON May 23, 2023 – The Clearview Youth Centre is overjoyed to announce the receipt of $10,000 from the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital’s (CGMH) Wellness Innovation Fund. The funding will allow the Youth Centre to offer free Lifesaving Society courses and open swims at the Centennial Pool over the next two years.

Youth Coordinator Courtney Rogers is proud to be able to do our part in Keeping Youth safe around water, “There are approximately 152 drowning deaths a year in Ontario. For every fatal drowning in Ontario, there are nearly four non-fatal drownings that are serious enough to require an emergency department visit. Non-fatal drowning rates are highest among children and youth.”

“We recognize that there are financial barriers to participating in Lifesaving Society courses for some of our youth and are proud to do our part to help keep Clearview youth safe around the water with the help of CGMH’s Wellness Innovation Fund.”

Registration details will be available online beginning June 5th by visiting

"We support a community hospital. And part of a community hospital is moving outside of the actual building. and going out to the community and finding needs in the community that can help people so they don't need the hospital in the end and programs and innovative partnerships that help us keep well in the community, help the hospital overall." - Jory Pritchard-Kerr, Collingwood Hospital Foundation President & CEO
