CGMH Foundation enters podcast space amidst $100 million campaign launch

May 6th, COLLINGWOOD ON: The Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation has entered the podcast space with “A Day Away” a 6-part series where they discuss the planning, building & funding of South Georgian Bay’s Hospital of Tomorrow.

“Hosting a podcast is a new endeavour for the Foundation and one that we have chosen for its ability to provide deeper conversations and learning.” says Alison Smith, Director of Communications (and recently podcast host). “Our hope is that we can inform our community on the impact of their support and the vital role we all play in the future of healthcare.”

A Day Away is centered around CGMH’s innovation, collaborative spirit, and the importance of medicine in a resource-limited setting. Playfully named after the song “Tomorrow” and on theme with their campaign slogan “Tomorrow is Built Today”, the podcast covers topics ranging from the frontlines of emergency care, CGMH’s innovative simulation training program, attracting top talent and CGMH’s President and CEO Mike Lacroix and Board Chair Barry Goodwin’s take on creating a world-class hospital for South Georgian Bay. The podcast was produced by local
company Saltwater Production Company.

“We talk about Tomorrow a lot around here. As a Foundation, our work is always future-planning and forward-thinking to ensure we can provide and care for generations to come.” says Smith, “When we come to the hospital today, we benefit from the generosity of those that gave before us. Now it is our turn to be part of something incredibly significant and deeply meaningful to South Georgian Bay.”

The Foundation is embarking on its biggest and boldest mission yet; to raise over $100 million to help build South Georgian Bay’s Hospital of Tomorrow. At 4x the size of the current footprint, the new hospital will expand healthcare services for our fast-growing community, improve patient care and privacy, attract top healthcare professionals, and build on CGMH’s strengths in education and training. Thanks to the generosity of leadership donors, more than $65 million has already been pledged. The campaign aims to raise the remaining funds from the community – residents and visitors alike who will benefit from the new hospital and the families that will benefit for generations to come.
