The Season of Giving: Musicians Christmas Raises $5k for CGMH

Musicians Christmas raised $5k for the Collingwood G&M Hospital Foundation at their 11th annual event on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

Held at 1812 Grillhouse & Bar, the event brought music lovers together to enjoy an evening of performances from local artists like Young Krewe, Robert Laidlaw and more. Musicians Christmas was created as an opportunity for local artists to come together and celebrate the holiday season while supporting healthcare in their community. The funds raised from the sold-out evening will go towards the purchase of a new CT scanner at CGMH.

“As a musician, community supporter, father, grandfather and heart attack survivor, I have personally experienced the need for first rate care and equipment in our Hospital” says event organizer, Paul Young, “we must work together, however we are able, to ensure the funds are there to provide that for our community.”

This year’s event was the first in-person event since 2019, and the support was incredible. Planning has already begun for next year’s Musicians Christmas which will be bigger and better as interest for the event continues to grow.

“We are honoured that Musicians Christmas continues to support the Collingwood Hospital Foundation” says Jory Pritchard-Kerr, Foundation President and CEO, “the funds from this year’s event have brought us one step closer to replacing our 10 year old CT scanner”.

Every year, over 10,000 patients come through the Collingwood G&M Hospital with a requisition for a CT scan. The CT scanner is used for many things, like planning surgeries for shattered knees, elbows, and shoulders. It is also used to diagnose different types of cancer, as well as bowel obstructions and blood clots. The current CT scanner is in constant need of repairs, resulting in downtime. A new CT scanner will have an incredible impact on the quality of care our healthcare professionals are able to provide.
