24H Blue MTN is welcoming teams of up to 12 skiers or snowboarders to Ontario’s premier ski resort for a relay-style fundraiser. Participants will look forward to an action-packed event filled with exhilarating outdoor thrills, warm music, great food, good spirits, plus participant perks and prizes.
“We are so excited for our team to be part of this event,” says event participant Shawtelle Davenport, “We moved to the area because of the great care our daughter Jax has received at CGMH, and we see this as a great way to pay it forward and support our local hospital.”
Shawtelle’s three year old daughter Jax has been rushed to the emergency department over 115 times. Born with a heart condition called Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), Jax has an irregularly fast/erratic heartbeat (arrhythmia) that affects the heart’s upper chambers and often has to be rushed to the Emergency Department so that they can “reset the heart” through medication and even defibrillation. The first time Jax was rushed to CGMH, the team found the right IV site, administered her meds, and got her heart reset, all within 40 mins (vs a typical3 hour timeline). Events like 24 HR Blue are ways they enjoy giving back to the hospital that has provided exceptional care for their daughter. Their team “Jax Shreds it Forward” is aiming to raise $10k in the event and their community is rallying behind them in support, including Crossfit Industries who created a team logo and are selling “Jax Shreds it Forward” hoodies to help their team raise funds.
“It’s the money raised through donations from the community that pay for virtually everything used to diagnose and treat the thousands of patients that come through our doors” says Jory Prichard-Kerr, “Thank you to the organizers of 24H Blue and to all the passionate skiers who are helping to raise much needed funds that will go towards new diagnostic imaging equipment.”
Register for the 5th annual 24H Blue MTN to experience the extraordinary feeling of hitting the slopes for a good cause. Skiing is believing…in better healthcare for South Georgian Bay.
