At 85 years old, Nora, a longtime Collingwood resident, found herself in a moment of crisis—rushed to the Collingwood G&M Hospital, unconscious and in urgent need of care.
Thanks to the swift action and expertise of the emergency team, Nora’s condition was quickly diagnosed, and it became clear that emergency surgery was her best chance. Nora speaks with gratitude about the care she received, not only from Dr. Koo (who she credits for saving her life) but also from the surgical nurses and physiotherapy staff who supported her recovery every step of the way.
Even the little things made a big difference. Nora was genuinely touched by the quality of the food during her stay, calling it “incredibly tasty”; a comforting surprise during a difficult time.
She also noticed the hospital’s cleanliness, which gave her a sense of safety and peace. Despite the age of the building, she felt reassured by how spotless everything was and by the kindness of the cleaning staff, who always took a moment to greet her with a smile.
From the moment she arrived to the day she returned home, Nora felt she was in good hands. And her care didn’t stop at the hospital doors – she was deeply thankful for the PSWs and physiotherapists who continued her treatment at home, helping her regain strength and independence.
In a beautiful gesture of gratitude, Nora made a donation to CGMH, turning her appreciation into action, and helping ensure that others in her community receive the same compassionate, high-quality care she did.
