Giving Circle raises $96,748 for exceptional healthcare needs.

Earlier this October, 76 women gathered for the Giving Circle’s Annual Meeting—a night of inspiration, collaboration, and shared commitment to improving healthcare at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH).

Despite the rain and wind, this year’s event saw our largest turnout yet, demonstrating the strength and dedication of our community. With heartfelt presentations from CGMH physicians and healthcare professionals, members were given an opportunity to learn about innovative projects that will directly enhance patient care.

The Giving Circle offers a unique chance for members to be actively involved in deciding how their generosity impacts our community. By focusing on “exceptional” needs not typically covered in the hospital’s budget, members hear directly from caregivers about the difference their support can make.

This year, we raised an incredible $96,748, allowing us to fund four innovative projects. After thoughtful voting by our members, the following initiatives were selected to receive funding:

Projects Funded in 2024:

  1. Ultrasound Probe – Presented by Jamey Gilroy
This advanced imaging probe will improve the detection of breast cancer and other conditions, allowing for earlier diagnoses and more personalized treatment plans.
  2. Endosee Advance – Presented by Dr. Susan O’Toole
This minimally invasive tool will make it faster and easier to evaluate uterine disorders, reducing the need for surgical intervention and general anesthesia.
  3. ORSIM Bronchoscopy Simulator – Presented by Dr. Mark Bonta
A cutting-edge virtual reality device, this simulator enables medical professionals to safely practice bronchoscopy procedures, enhancing patient safety and care quality.
  4. Simulation Debrief Hardware – Presented by Dr. Jesse Guscott & Jessica Metheral
This technology will elevate crisis response training for medical teams, improving outcomes in high-stress emergency situations across multiple hospital departments.

Each of these projects addresses a critical need, ensuring CGMH remains a leader in patient care and a destination for top-tier medical training.

In addition to funding these vital initiatives, we are proud to welcome 13 new members to the Giving Circle this year. This growth in membership strengthens our collective ability to create meaningful change and ensures that future generations in South Georgian Bay benefit from innovative and compassionate healthcare.

The Giving Circle is more than an evening of philanthropy—it’s a chance to connect, learn, and make a direct impact. Members actively participate in shaping healthcare priorities, meeting the very people who deliver care, and hearing firsthand how their contributions will transform lives.

As we celebrate the success of this year’s event, we look forward to continuing to grow this incredible group of women. Together, we’re shaping a healthier future for South Georgian Bay—one innovative project at a time.

On behalf of our healthcare team, our volunteers, and the CGMH Foundation, thank you to all who joined and supported this year’s Giving Circle. Your generosity makes exceptional care possible.
