We talk about Tomorrow a lot around here. As a Foundation, our work is always future-planning and forward-thinking to ensure we can provide and care for generations to come. Today, our community benefits from the generosity of those that gave before them. And now, we are embarking on our biggest and boldest mission yet. We are steadfast on a mission to build South Georgian Bay’s Hospital of Tomorrow; to expand healthcare services for our fast-growing community, improving patient safety and privacy, helping to retain and recruit top healthcare professionals and build on our strength in rural, interprofessional education and training.
If you have visited our hospital recently, you are probably aware that we have outgrown this space. Every day, we face challenges from crowded patient rooms to difficulty in organizing departments and patient flow effectively. This results in inadequate comfort and privacy for patients. With 80% of our current facility originally built in the 1950s, dense infrastructure means that we cannot renovate to meet current patient care standards, and there is no room to expand.
The challenges of delivering exceptional care in our environment are compounded by so many things: access to state-of-the-art technology, recruitment of medical professionals and specialists, and proximity to regional centres. Our staff, physicians, nurses, and volunteers care deeply about this community. They’ve spent years pushing past the limitations and obstacles that come from working in an aging and overflowing facility. Despite growing challenges, they’ve introduced innovative programs and technologies that have allowed the hospital to deliver uncompromised care. They’ve been taking care of today, but now we need help to take care of tomorrow.
To support this critical community project, we have launched the $100 million campaign to build South Georgian Bay’s Hospital of Tomorrow.
We are working to build the new hospital that South Georgian Bay needs and deserves and we know that this community will be here to support it. This newsletter is filled with stories to prove it. We are so fortunate for the support that comes to this hospital. Whether it is sharing a story, being a monthly donor, or hosting an event, our community of support shows up time and time again to ensure that our healthcare teams can continue to deliver the best in healthcare. With your help, our new facility will be ready to support all of us when we need it most- when tomorrow comes.
Thank you for all of your many forms of generosity. We appreciate you.
