The Head Strong Program provides free mental health counselling for youth ages 12 to 18, helping young people access professional support without the financial barriers or long wait times that can make care difficult to access.
With support from the Wellness Innovation Fund, the program expanded this year to reach youth in Clearview Township and Wasaga Beach. Funding has helped connect more young people with qualified therapists, establish dedicated counselling space through a partnership with the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre, and strengthen access to early mental health support in the community.
Head Strong supports local youth experiencing challenges including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and social isolation. Through its low-barrier, stigma-free approach, youth can reach out directly for support and be matched with a therapist who meets their individual needs.
By making professional counselling available when and where youth need it, Head Strong helps young people build resilience, develop healthy coping skills and strengthen their overall well-being. The program’s timely, accessible approach not only supports youth, but also has a positive impact on their families and the broader community.
