On February 10th, 2023, the CGMHF Young Professionals Committee is hosting “Slopes for Hope” a retro-themed ski day to engage and inspire others to support the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation. It’s the money raised through donations from the community that pays for virtually all equipment and technology used to diagnose and treat the thousands of patients that rely on Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (‘CGMH’) every year.
“Many of our peers are not aware that over 90% of all medical equipment and technology is funded through donations to the Foundation” says Committee Chair, Rebecca Meesters, “CGMH is at the heart of this community and by coming together to offer our experience and skill sets we hope to make a difference in the quality of care at CGMH.”
Taking place at Osler Bluff Ski Club on February 10, Slopes for Hope aims to raise funds for a new MRI Scanner. MRI service will help CGMH to advance safety, quality of care, and efficiency while improving access to care closer to home. This will be a tremendous benefit to inpatients and emergency department patients as well as those with significant cancer, stroke, orthopaedic, and emergency medicine conditions. A significant portion of the hospital’s outpatients will experience far shorter wait times and will effectively end the requirement to travel for essential imaging care.
“We are so grateful for this dynamic group of young leaders and their desire to support our MRI campaign,” says CGMH Foundation committee member Alison Smith, “South Georgian Bay has seen such a growth in population of younger families and we hope to showcase to them the importance of supporting the hospital while also having a bit of fun.”
Slopes for Hope will be an action-packed day both on and off the hill including raffles, prizes, silent auction, games and more. Skiers will enjoy breakfast, a hot lunch and après. The fun even begins before the event with multiple Instagram giveaways @collingwoodyoungprofessionals
