The only constant in life is change.

To everything turn, turn, turn

The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus is known for his concepts on change, famously coining the phrase, “the only constant in life is change”.  As we enter the Fall season, a time for transition, a time for letting things go, we are able to find joy and comfort in all that we have accomplished through our generous community. We also look to the journey ahead, and the many changes that will continue to take place as our teams plan and design a brand new state-of-the-art hospital, while simultaneously ensuring that the current one maintains the same level of outstanding care.

On June 21st, we held our Annual General Meeting where we said good-bye to 4 board members who fulfilled their board terms.  Debora Bloom-Hall, Pat Wright, Joan Emmans, and Jack Marley have provided exemplary governance and profound expertise that has greatly contributed to the success of this Foundation. They have truly embodied our mission of outstanding care for life and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and service. We are pleased to appoint 3 new members to our Board of Directors: David Downie, Hilary Laidlaw, and Louise Watt who each offer unique skills and expertise to govern the Foundation staff.

Thanks to donor support, our Diagnostic Imaging Department is undergoing a significant transformation. Our team is purchasing the newest technology in diagnostic imaging equipment for better, faster diagnosis, close to home, all while ensuring they are spending wisely and thinking about the future hospital. We are pleased to provide you with an update on this equipment in this newsletter.

Heraclitus also viewed the world as constantly in flux, always “becoming” but never “being”, which rings true to the work we do here at the Foundation. Our goal is always to plan for the future, to continue to ensure that our hospital-and the teams that work within it-continue to have the tools and resources they need to provide outstanding care for South Georgian Bay. This year we are fundraising for equipment that will impact Internal Medicine, breast care screenings and diagnosis, advanced resuscitations, and better, faster results from our laboratory; all in the name of better patient outcomes.

And while change may be the only constant, community support never wavers. It just gets stronger and our community becomes more ignited.

You consistently show us that better healthcare is your priority. Your continued support and dedication to our mission ensures that our hospital can keep up with the healthcare needs for  the patients of CGMH. Our friends, family, and neighbours all benefit from the kindness and generosity that is being shown today. Thank you.
